Rooftop Film Club returns to both Kensington Roof Gardens and the Queen of Hoxton as London's summer screening season gets under way with Hepburn and Monroe

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Shout it from the rooftops London's open-air cinema season starts on Monday 29th April with an 8.30pm outdoor screening of Breakfast At Tiffany's at the famous Kensington Roof Gardens. After an evening with Audrey Hepburn what better way than to follow up with a night with Marilyn Monroe as Some Like It Hot is shown on the same big screen the next day in the second of five films this spring at the plush venue in W8.

Across London in edgier Shoreditch, the same Rooftop Film Club returns with it second and original outdoor screening event of the early summer. Running throughout May on the roof of the popular Queen of Hoxton pub, the season starts on Wednesday 1st May with the Will Ferrell classic, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. For £12 guests can sit back under the glow of the City's skyline as they enjoy a variety of classic and cult films with a drink in hand. Wireless headphones, a massive screen, comfy chairs, blankets, drinks and bar food made the Rooftop Film Club one of the big successes of last year's outdoor season.

The programme at the Queen of Hoxton is varied, with 9pm screenings most nights of the month including films such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Big Lebowski, The Usual Suspects, Seven Psychopaths, Jaws, Leon, Willow, Snatch, Taxi Driver and much more. The popular 'Chick Flick Tuesdays' return with Amelie, The Notebook and Mean Girls all on the cards. So far, the only third date at the Kensington Roof Gardens to be confirmed is Tuesday 7th May where guests will be able to enjoy Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for a pricier £22 which nevertheless includes a burger, hot dog or vegetarian option prepared on the outdoor coal fire BBQ.

Last year, all Rooftop Film Club screenings sold out so guests are advised to book in advance as soon as possible. The Rooftop Film Club is one of many organisations committed to taking the movies out of the dark, dank indoors and into the open. Numerous outdoor screenings take place all over London in innovative locations throughout the summer and the events website LondonTown.com has its finger on the pulse with a comprehensive London Outdoor Film Screening feature to help movie lovers plan for the months ahead.

Returning once again this summer is the highlight of many people's calender: the Film 4 Summer Screen at the historic Somerset House, which runs from 15th to 26th August (full programme yet to be announced). One month later, the More London Free Film Festival lights up the area of the South Bank near City Hall with a series of free evening screenings at The Scoop, a 1,000-seat amphitheatre located between HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge (11th to 27th September). Also running in the same month after a successful debut last summer is Kew The Movies, which takes place over three days in the beautiful gardens of the iconic Kew Palace (12th, 13th & 14th September).

In August two outdoor events have been confirmed: Trinity Summer Cinema Series in the award-winning gardens of Trinity Hospice in Clapham returns with Dirty Dancing (Wednesday 21st August), Breakfast At Tiffany's (Thursday 22nd August) and Top Gun (Friday 23rd August), while the Open Air Cinema at beautiful Chiswick House is showing West Side Story (Thursday 29th August) and The Commitments (Friday 30th August).

All these outdoor cinematic dates for the diary are previewed on the website LondonTown.com, which boasts a huge selection of London Events. Other outdoor cinema events yet to confirm their 2013 programme are Hot Tub Cinema at Netil House, Nomad Cinema (dubbed "London's best outdoor cinema" by the Evening Standard), Luna Cinema, Midsummer Night Screen, Pop-Up Screens and Films on the Flytower of the National Theatre.

Opera lovers can attend a huge free outdoor event this summer with the return of the Royal Opera House BP Big Screens, which will be showing the Royal Ballet's Mayerling (Thursday 13th June), Puccini's La rondine (Thursday 11th July) and another Puccini classic, Tosca, on Thursday 18th July. All of London's major film festivals are also covered in LondonTown.com's 244-page book to London 2013.
