Read any good books lately? If not, today is the day to do it. It is "Read Across
America Day." Author Lilia Valentine of Aruntx Publishing Company, New York, wants
to remind you of the National Educational Association "Read Across America Program".
Initially created as a one-day event to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss birthday,
March 2, the NEA "Read Across America" has grown into a nationwide initiative that
promotes reading every day, celebrate the joy and importance of reading. Reading is
a personal improvement goal, and the event is a way to reinforce the special day for
students, families, and the community.

learn the more places you'll go." For years the Dr. Seuss rousing rhymes and curious
characters have not only been entertaining kids but enticing them to make a habit of
picking up a good book. Read Across America Day was started to celebrate the life of
children's author Dr. Seuss. March 02, 2005 would have been his 101st birthday.
