One of the City’s Leading Organizations Continues to Champion the Fight To End Childhood Obesity

Atlanta, GA, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The who’s who in Atlanta came together in celebration of one of Atlanta’s leading organizations focused on eradicating childhood obesity. During an unforgettable private fundraiser at the Piedmont Driving Club, Mayor Kasim Reed and other Atlanta notables from the business, arts and community sectors celebrated the Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully C.H.O.I.C.E.S ten years of stellar programming and community outreach. Benefactor, Mack Wilbourn hosted the C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Benefit Event.

C.H.O.I.C.E.S continues to be one of Atlanta’s largest organizations solely committed to championing the fight against the deadly epidemic of childhood obesity. The organization provides critical year-round programming and resources for clinically diagnosed and at-risk children of obesity including First Lady, Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative.

During the benefit event, C.H.O.I.C.E.S was celebrated for the well-needed support and resources it continues to provide in the Atlanta community. The organization received check presentations from Mack Wilbourn and the Aetna Foundation (the independent philanthropic arm of Aetna), during the celebration to help them continue and expand their efforts.

The Aetna Foundation also recently announced its teaming up with C.H.O.I.C.E.S to help expand the Sisters in the Lifestyle Intervention Teaching Exercises (S.L.I.T.E.) workshops and the Camp Divas for Overweight Girls summer program. Together, the organizations will focus on helping to improve the health of overweight girls and their families in Greater Atlanta.

“I could never express what Mack Wilbourn’s generosity and the generosity of his friends that supported this event means to C.H.O.I.C.E.S.” She continues, “He has been a guiding force for our organization from the very beginning. And now, we will be able to have a new Center in Atlanta where obesity prevention programs will be offered to all ages, all year round.” shares founder and executive director, Vanetta Keyes.

To date, the Center has reached over 70,000 children and their families through healthier lifestyle programming, summer camps, parent workshops, public school collaborations and community outreach efforts in Atlanta, Georgia. Each year, C.H.O.I.C.E.S. hosts its signature programs and events including, the Let’s Move! Atlanta Expo, Let’s Move! DeKalb Expo, the Sisters in the LITE Series, Camp Divas, the Children’s Nutrition, Education & Physical Activity Expos, the Family Fitness Workshop Series and more.
