2022Washington, DC, April 03, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Bike and Roll DC announces the opening of their Downtown DC location at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library, located at 901 G Street NW. The new location will offer a variety of bike rentals (including kids’ equipment) in an outdoor setting on the G Street exterior of the library.
Bike and Roll DC’s 2014 season marks the beginning of many changes; on March 8th, their new National Mall location opened in L’Enfant Plaza, becoming the central hub for bike and Segway tours. This momentum continues with the opening of a downtown DC locale, which will become the primary site of rental operations for the company.
An official historic landmark, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library is located on G Street between 9th and 10th streets NW. Three and a half blocks from the National Mall, this central location is easily accessed by both Metro Center and Gallery Place stations, which collectively service the Blue, Orange, Red, Yellow, and Green lines. A perfect gateway to both the National Mall and a variety of DC’s neighborhoods, the downtown DC location will be well positioned as a departure point to explore anywhere and everywhere in the city.
A DC fixture in the heart of downtown (bordering both Penn Quarter and Chinatown,) the MLK Library was opened in 1972 and designed by famed architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The storied space will undergo an exciting renovation process in the coming years that will bring about further modernization and cultural integration into the city.
The new downtown DC rental headquarters will open April 2014, and will offer a myriad of equipment available to rent for the young, old, beginner and avid cyclist. Along with their standard equipment, limited edition specialty bikes will be offered in line with the city’s new “DC Cool” campaign. All sales at this location will be credit card only.
Additionally, bike and Segway tours will be offered at the National Mall location at L’Enfant Plaza, self-guided bike tours and rentals will continue to be offered in Old Town Alexandria (advance reservations only), and bike service, repairs and rentals will also be available at Bike and Roll’s Union Station location.
