Hong Kong, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Indonesian government has introduced Decree of Minister of Industry No. 07/M-IND/PER/2/2014 in relation to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certification program for a range of baby garments for children under the age of 36 months old.

Requirements for Baby Garments

Any baby garments that are imported into Indonesia or manufactured domestically for the Indonesian market after 17 May 2014 are subject to these requirements.

Scope of Regulations for Baby Clothes and Garments

As part of the SNI certification procedure, baby clothing within the scope of this regulation is required to be sampled by qualified sampling officers (PPC) and tested at an approved laboratory to ensure conformance to SNI 7617:2013. In case of non-Indonesian made products, the certification procedure must be completed prior to the pre-shipment inspection, which is a government mandated import requirement applicable to most commodities shipped into Indonesia.

The HS codes for garment and accessories for babies, baby clothes made of cotton or synthetic fiber as well as sanitary towels and tampons, diapers, diaper dressing and the likes for babies, made of any materials, are listed in a table within the latest SGS SafeGuardS bulletin (http://newsletter.sgs.com/eNewsletterPro/uploadedimages/000006/sgs-safeguards-11414-sgs-laboratory-execute-testing-babys-garments-indonesia-a4-en-14.pdf).
