Northampton Printer Buys Supermodels Unlimited

Released on = May 13, 2005, 6:25 am

Press Release Author = Richard Williams/TigerPress

Industry = Apparel & Fashion

Press Release Summary = Western Massachusetts based Supermodels Unlimited publication, a national magazine catering to the beauty and fashion industry, is bought by commercial printer TigerPress.

Press Release Body = TigerPress, a family-owned commercial printing operation based in Northampton, MA, purchased Supermodels Unlimited (SU) a magazine catering to the beauty, fashion and pageant industry.

“This is a fabulous match for us,” says Kimberly Lawrence, SU Editor-in-Chief. “Being in the same building as the magazine printer gives us incredible control of the final product. We’re very excited about the synergy.”

Supermodels Unlimited, formerly based in Agawam, MA, was the brainchild of Ms. Lawrence in 2000. While arranging a charity benefiting Toys for Tots five years ago, Kimberly, a former model and beauty pageant winner, realized the market lacked suitable venues for advertising her event. She decided to create her own
publication.

“The reception of that glossy magazine was overwhelming,” Kimberly says. “And right on the heels of the first issue, we had an opportunity to acquire Babette’s Pageant and & Talent Gazette, one of the most respected journals in the industry.

Supermodels Unlimited is available by subscription, and is sold at news stands including Barnes & Noble and Walgreens.

TigerPress traces its bloodline back to the first CopyCat Print Shop opened by Mr. Shafii and his wife Jennifer, both graduates of UMass, in Amherst, Massachusetts. There are seven CopyCat locations in Massachusetts and Vermont.

CopyCat print shops function as local entities to service the market for digital color copies, graphic design and quick print projects. They also provide a gateway to the high end printing resource available at TigerPress.

“In 1985, we looked at the situation and realized there was a need for quick copy service and printer in the town of Amherst. The business took off, so we branched out with other stores in the Pioneer Valley,” says Mr. Shafii. “Publishing is a natural outgrowth of our commercial printing business. It gives us a chance to show off the beauty of our printing with a national presence.”

TigerPress offers a wide range of comprehensive solutions for the printing and media requirements of corporations, colleges, hospitals, design firms, banks and other business institutions. On the Web at www.tigerpress.com

Supermodels Unlimited Magazine is a quarterly plus bonus issue magazine for the teen and women's market focusing on fashion, health and beauty products, entertainment news, modeling,photography, celebrities, fitness and talent & pageant competitions. On the Web at www.supermodelsunlimited.com
