The categories are Best Black Female Record of the Year and Best Black Female Video of the Year. The Black Women in Jazz (BWIJ) awards is a black tie event that features a night of glamour and elegance showcasing the immense talent that black women have in jazz and in the arts. Their mission is to create a greater awareness of the many vital contributions that African American Female artists have made in the past, present and the future of jazz. BWIJ celebrates the amazing work of known artists, spotlights the up and coming artists, and honors the sophisticated ladies who present such phenomenal work.
