Wapping warehouse showcases best of East London artists throughout May.

LONDON, April 29, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Some of the most talented artists in London will be showcased in a new exhibition announcing the arrival of a fantastic new venue on the London arts scene. The 2015 East London Painting Prize will beheld at The Rum Factory, Pennington Street in Wapping from 30th April to 17th May 2015, the first time the space has been utilised for exhibitions. The East London Painting Prize, now in its second year, celebrates the incredible talent and diversity of artists living and working in the boroughs of east London. The landmark 2015 exhibition will be the first public use of a historic Grade II-listed building for over 200 years. Formerly the offices of The Sunday Times and The Times newspapers, The Rum Factory is being transformed into 90 affordable artists' studios run by charity Bow Arts Trust as part of the wider London Dock development by St George.

The influential panel selecting the shortlist and eventual winner includes artist and painter Phoebe Unwin (Wilkinson); editor of Art Review, Oliver Basciano; Director of the Zabludowicz Collection Elizabeth Neilson; founder of Launchpad, Sarah Elson; winner of the East London Painting Prize 2014, Nathan Eastwood; representative of the Goldhill Family, Michael Goldhill; and Claire Gevaux, Creative Director of The Legacy List. The artists shortlisted for the exhibition will be announced on Tuesday 21st April. The winner will be selected from the artists exhibited at the Rum Factory on Wednesday 13st May, winning a £10,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition in the Nunnery Gallery, Bow later in the year.
