Celebration of the “Best of Maryland” Preservation Awards

Baltimore, MD, April 18, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Since 1985, Preservation Maryland has presented awards to individuals and organizations for their contribution to preserving our State’s rich, authentic, and diverse heritage. Now in its 30th year, Preservation Maryland will honor 13 awardees for excellent projects in historic preservation, architecture, community engagement, and education from across the State. This year’s awardees include:

President’s Award: J. Rodney Little Maryland’s State Historic Preservation Officer for the last four decades

Tyler Gearhart Award for Professional Excellence: Al Luckenbach Anne Arundel County’s first archaeologist, serving 26 years

Phoenix Award: KANN Partners Expert architects in design, preservation and sustainability

Stewardship Award: Maryland Department of General Services, and Maryland Historical Trust Restoration of the Old Senate Chamber to the exact moment of Gen. Washington’s resignation

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission; Montpelier Mansion Careful implementation of a moisture remediation plan, an unsung but essential project

Volunteer Organization Award: Save Historic Antietam Foundation Celebrating their 30th anniversary of protecting priceless Civil War heritage at Antietam

Community Choice Awards: Accokeek Foundation, Friends of Greenbelt Theatre, Maryland Theatre, and Nanticoke Historic Preservation Alliance
