At least it is according to author Rick Smith. His new book, Legions
of Light/Armies
of Darkness (now available through AuthorHouse), is an autobiographical
account of
alien involvement told through daring, controversial, surreal verse.

poetic
device, but hits the reader more like a machine gun blasting bullets
of blood and
guts observation and relentless social commentary through (my) experience,”

Legions of Light/
Armies of Darkness is an inspired book of verse that stems from
Smith’s work dealing with the “Abduction Phenomena,
extraterrestrial intervention
and all the raging fires in between known as ‘an experiment
in humanity.’” Through
his poems, Smith invites readers into a strange world and life that
involves bizarre
anomalies. Within the book, this “teacher of the masses”
explores his deep
relationship with a bipedal preying mantis known as “Mother.”
Acting as a conduit
for her, he has gleaned the secrets of the planet and the level
with which
extraterrestrials have been involved, for good and ill, in the fate
of humanity.
Through his
poetry, Smith’s story unfolds as a manifesto. He details his
calling in
life as a teacher “raging against the coldness and blindness
of the world, the
calculating deprivation of truth by ‘the powers that be’
and the terrible sin of
apathy the masses evidence.” A self-proclaimed son of the
Matriarchy who battles the
reptilian overlords of the Patriarchal Order, he chronicles his
journey to the truth
through poems of blunt honesty, unrelenting violence and tenderness
expressed for
his alien lover and his human hybrid child and told through a rapid-fire
discourse
meant to challenge and bend readers’ minds.
