Stem Cell Support by Dr. Bill Frist, Senator

Released on = August 14, 2005, 10:12 am

Press Release Author = Janine M Lodato

Industry = Healthcare

Press Release Summary = A Change of Heart: a Democrat becomes a Republican

Press Release Body = A dyed-in-the wool Democrat and a victim of Multiple
Sclerosis (MS) for the last 30 years, I have to admit that when I heard that the Senate Majority Leader, Dr. Bill Frist, support stem-cell research, I felt a flash of hope for the USA and , indeed, for the entire World. For the first time in my life I would consider voting for a Republican candidate whose campaign was based on, or includes as a significant part of such campaign, stem-cell research. I would also like to make positive comments regarding Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger's great support of stem-cell research
in California. Maybe Silicon Valley will become the center of the world for
stem-cells and maybe it will be renamed Cell Valley or DNA Valley or some such. These two Republican leaders have hit upon a very important issue concerning my life and the lives of the 100 million people in the USA: the population segment who are in need of medical solutions beyond the current pharmaceuticals. This population segment includes the disabled, the chronically-ill and the frail elderly. Also, let us not forget the 44 million informal caregivers who take care of the people in need. This segment include family and friends who serve without any pay, or for that matter, without any tax breaks. So the combination of these two population segments, 144 million of them together, could be a the most significant voting block. I ask myself if I would support a Democrat whose platform would be based on stem-cell research? I must admit it all depends on the candidate and her or his qualifications. I must say that, Dr. Bill Frist, being a medical doctor, appears to have the knowledge and the credibility to speak for the medical research community as well as all the people who are in need of creative new medical solutions. If the reader permits me a little humorous, maybe to a degree serious, observation: the four basis which code in our DNA our genes are A, C, T and G. Of course: ACT of God.
The DNA is God's own invention and stem cells are God's own medical miracle.
