Gentris Corporation Announces Live Webcast

Released on = September 15, 2005, 6:35 am

Press Release Author = 919 Marketing

Industry = Biotech

Press Release Summary = President and CEO Michael Murphy to discuss the impact of clinical and diagnostic pharmacogenomics on the pharmaceutical development community.

Press Release Body = Gentris Corporation today announced it will conduct a live Webcast on Tuesday, September 20th, at 1:30 p.m. EDT to discuss trends and innovations in clinical and diagnostic pharmacogenomics and their impact on the pharmaceutical development community.

Pharmacogenomics, the study of an individual’s genetic makeup in order to predict response to drug therapy, allows pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organizations to deliver safer, more effective compounds to the market in less time. Newly released FDA guidelines on pharmacogenomics support the benefits and clinical
relevance of incorporating pharmacogenomic testing into drug development programs. In the wake of recent high profile drug recalls including Vioxx® and Bextra®, pharmaceutical companies now more than ever must assure the safety and efficacy of drugs while at the same time enhancing their market positioning and product
penetration.
“The market for pharmacogenomic products and services will grow significantly in the next two to five years as drug companies determine when and how—not if—pharmacogenomics fits into the research and development pipeline,” explains Michael Murphy. “By 2010, the market size is expected to reach $27.4 billion. Key drivers include additional regulatory guidance from the FDA, aversion to risk of drug withdrawals from pharmaceutical and biotech companies, intolerance of escalating drug costs by insurers’ and payers’ and patient demand for drugs with greater efficacy and fewer side effects.”

Following the Webcast, Mr. Murphy will be available for a “Q&A” session. To register, please visit the following link and follow the instructions provided: http://www.gentris.com/highlights/view.aspx?id
