WhyLabs Reveals Its Anti-Fraud Mechanisms

Released on = September 12, 2005, 2:21 am

Press Release Author = Why Laboratories Corporation

Industry = Internet & Online

Press Release Summary = WhyLabs announces the campaign aimed to fight off fraud illiteracy and starts with revealing its basic fraud-prevention mechanisms on its website.

Press Release Body = Why Laboratories Corporation decided to reveal the basic anti-fraud tools which are traditionally used for credit card online fraud detection. As the information has always been secreted by companies, WhyLabs is the first to make such data available for public. Now every WhyLabs website’s visitor has the opportunity to learn more about the basis of fraud-prevention.

The Laboratory’s management assures that it is not the information which helps fraudsters to invent new fraud technologies because it is absolutely useless for them, thus its disclosure can never be harmful for the company’s operating as well as general online security.

“There is no reason for such information to be considered as confidential,” WhyLabs Chief Manager Dennis Drausset says. “Certainly, we have some secret data about our fraud detection mechanisms and they are not publicly available. On the site we
provide the basis of online security. So, the information we present is for honest online players’ interest only.”

A separate page which contains descriptions of the basic modules was created on WhyLabs website. There, text descriptions are combined with pictorial renditions to make the information more comprehensible for amateurs and fight off the anti-fraud illiteracy. Although the Technology page is already available, it is still in developmental stage. Now it contains tips on the four basic fraud-detecting filters:
Bank Identification Number Check, IP Address Location, Country match IP-BIILING, and Free e-mail.

“We decided to share our experience because our mission is provision of global online security. We believe that information that appears on our site is useful for every online business owner,” Drausset says.

The WhyLabs Technology page will be replenished with new descriptions from time to time. The information is provided by WhyLabs’ researchers and is available at http://www.whylabs.com/technology.html.

Why Laboratories Corporation is a fraud preventing company which used to be closed for public and studied online fraud. Now it is available online and offers its unique fraud-preventing technologies developed on the basis of profound researches and investigations which are held constantly by the Laboratory’s scientists. WhyLabs
is operating at www.whylabs.com.
