ITI President and Legal Expert Will Advise Lawyers on Getting the Evidence They Need

Released on = October 10, 2005, 11:58 am

Press Release Author = Diane Pettus/ Pettus.Inc

Industry = Software

Press Release Summary = Day-long Seminar Focuses on Effectively Conducting E-Discovery and Computer Forensics in North Carolina

Press Release Body = Raleigh, NC -- 10 October 2005 -- Calling all lawyers and legal support staff. You're tech-savvy enough to know that, in civil litigation, it's often prudent to request electronic evidence. But do you know what you're getting? Are you capturing everything you need or are you just requesting everything, hoping
to find a diamond in the rough? Computer data is vast and sometimes hard to interpret. Whether or not your case hinges on electronic evidence, it makes sense to understand the fundamentals of e-discovery so you actually know what to ask for and how to get it.
On Wednesday, October 19, Kelly Campbell, President of Interface Technologies, Inc. (ITI) and Corey Wilson, lead technologist in ITI’s legal services division, will be featured faculty for a day long seminar organized by the National Business Institute to instruct members of the legal community on how to obtain the electronic information they need to win a case. ITI provides Intellectual Property Analysis,
Litigation Support, Evidence Preservation and Recovery, Clean Room Development, and Software Failure Analysis to prosecuting and defending attorneys and to both in-house and outside corporate counsel. Seminar participants will weigh the pros and cons of electronic discovery and learn how it's best used to support a case – and also when it is best to avoid using it.

Lawyers will be shown:
• how a company's firewall, router, phone system and security system logs can be penetrated for vital information.
• how to find “deleted” files and put them to use.
• how to properly establish a chain of custody, so that fragile evidence isn't tampered with.
• how to ask the right questions when deposing the opposition's IT witness. In addition, attendees will be shown how to determine if selected evidence will be admissible in court and how to protect vulnerable evidence from spoliation.
