Chiropractic Marketing The Difference Between Commitment and Concern

Released on = December 9, 2005, 2:35 pm

Press Release Author = Dr.Dusan Djukich DC

Industry = Healthcare

Press Release Summary = Have you ever known a colleague who always seems to be in a
bit of difficulty? Maybe it\'s low new patient flow, a drop in monthly collections,
taxes s/he can\'t afford to pay, etc. If you\'re inclined to be helpful like a lot of
people, you\'ve probably extended a luncheon or dinner invitation, and offered a few
words of advice. But you will notice if you bring up the word commitment, more often
than not it is taken as an insult.

Press Release Body = \"What do you mean I lack commitment? I put in 60 hours a week,
and I still need an extra $30,000 for taxes.\" Or, \"The practice has steadily dropped
over the last six months, and I\'ve been doing everything possible. I\'ve been asking
for referrals, running ads, sitting up almost every night worrying about how I can
get things going really good again.\"
When you hear such statements, many times the individual has not made the
distinction between commitment and concern. Concern almost always occurs when a
doctor\'s practice is declining. It continues to increase in direct proportion to the
decline-until the person is \"really concerned\". Usually this is accompanied by a
complete set of emotions ranging from apathy to excitement and back down again. It\'s
quite normal for the person in this position to experience concern with all its
accompanying ups and downs.

However, you must realize that no matter how dramatic all of this becomes, it\'s
entirely possible that real commitment is nowhere in sight. When an individual is
really committed, there is a genuine willingness to take action that is going to get
results. (This is opposed to \"really concerned\" which most often amounts to worry,
upset, grief, screaming, etc.). A committed person lives life like, \"Yeah, I\'m
really tired, and I\'m going to get this done on time.\" Or, I\'m really scared and I
will show up and do a good job.\"
A concerned person who lacks commitment will just stand there being scared, angry,
etc. Committed people make distinctions between themselves and their thoughts,
feelings, etc., and simply do what is required to finish the
task.www.NewPatientsOnline.com

The usual response to lack of results is to \"pour it on.\" This calls for an
intelligent assessment of what will be needed to handle the challenge. It means
setting up daily targets that, once met, will really get the job done. A committed
individual directs his/her energies toward meeting those targets-not something else
that feels better. You can always find lots of things to do that keep you busy.
However, it\'s handling what you are faced with that gets results!
Even the few successful strategies you\'re still utilizing will be carried out with
more conviction. Actions that failed before will begin working in your favor. This
is an approach that successfully resolves your concerns by putting real commitment
in their place.
