Spotlight Shines on Single Fathers in New Film

Released on = December 8, 2005, 10:03 pm

Press Release Author = Crystal Testa / Lucid Vision Entertainment

Industry = Entertainment

Press Release Summary = "Custody" dramatizes America's fastest growing household -
Single Dads with kids.

Press Release Body = (AKRON, OH) - A census report issued in 2001 shows that one of
the fastest growing family demographics in America are households run by single
fathers. A newly released DVD, Custody, shines light on the single dad phenomenon.

Custody is a romantic-dramedy written and directed by filmmaker Eric Stuyvesant.
"Most people have the perception that single parent households are run by mothers,"
said Stuyvesant, "but that's not always the case."

While the film does carry a universal message of hope, the primary focus is the
trials and tribulations of being a single dad. Custody uses prison as a metaphor,
playing with the theme of having custody of children while feeling confined by
situations. "It doesn't speak for everyone," added Stuyvesant, "but a great number
of single parents feel trapped by their circumstances." A single father himself,
Stuyvesant raises three boys in Akron, Ohio.
