Press Release Body = The partnership signed between TM Net and Network Security Solutions resulted in the launch of the first mobile software XMS, that enables end-to-end security and trust in mobile messaging. XMS is expected to be suitable for celebrities, enterprises and government agencies.
The new software runs as an application on the mobile devices and works in the background to encrypt and decrypt messages. In addition, the solution offers additional security features such as data encryption and a remote data wipe function in case of loss or theft of mobiles.
"TM Net XMS ensures the privacy and confidentiality of SMS messages during its transfer to recipients across borders, cellular providers and technologies such as the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)," said Michael Lai, TM Net's CEO.
Lai also indicated that its company would be actively exploring the possibility of integrating its new service with payment transactions and credit cards payment by the first quarter of 2006.
"We expect widespread deployment of secured m-commerce in the arena of integrated payment systems. A mobile handset application at the user's end, integrated with an XMS enterprise server at the payment switch would enable TM Net to carry out secured SMS-based payment transactions," Lai said.
TM Net expects 10,000 subscribers within the first three months.
