Gale Paris Day, founder, came up with the concept about three years ago while exploring an assisted living facility for her parents. Upon entering the facility she was impressed by an exhibit of art created by the residents. Upon asking if any of it was for sale, Gale was informed that it was just a display for residents and visitors.
"There was some amazing art," says Gale, "Immediately I knew that art of this quality could sell if it could only be exposed to the right people."
At first, Gale pondered how she could help the artists sell original art without carrying each piece from gallery to gallery. It was a natural next step to begin thinking about an online venture. That was the seed that blossomed into www.originalartonline.com.
Thinking that creating a successful online art gallery would not be too difficult she began a two-year research project about websites, e-commerce and internet marketing. She soon learned that driving traffic to a website is the most important factor for a successful site and that this particular skill is an art in itself. It was naïve to think this could be done without expert help.
