Toronto Coach tells Canada how to turn New Year Resolutions to New Year Results

Released on = January 5, 2006, 2:12 pm

Press Release Author = Sue Edwards

Industry = Small Business

Press Release Summary = Toronto area coach tells Canada AM viewers how to avoid
disappointment and achieve results from the resolutions they make at the beginning
of the new year.

Press Release Body = Toronto, ON January 3, 2006 - CTV's Canada AM, the country's
most-watched morning show with the latest local, national and international news,
called upon a Toronto area Coach to help Canadians turn their New Year Resolutions
to Results.

Sue Edwards, Associate Certified Coach, President of Development by Design and
author of "Congratulations, You're Hired! A Coach's Guide to Ensuring a Successful
Transition", spoke with Canada AM's Seamus O'Regan about how people can avoid
disappointment and achieve the results they desire from the resolutions they make at
the beginning of the new year.
Edwards outlined "7 Sure Fire Steps from Resolutions to Results" - a series of
simple steps that, if followed, can ensure your resolutions have staying power. In
Step #1 - "You've Got to Want to," Edwards describes that often we make resolutions
because it's something we think we "should do" or because someone else told us it
was a great idea. However, this has a minimal likelihood of lasting success. She
further clarifies that Step #1 is the most critical step on which to spend some
solid reflection time as resolutions that bring results are those that touch a
personal core value. Before you move to Steps #2 through #7, Edwards advises that
you take some quiet time and have a hard look at your list. Define which of your
resolutions are genuinely yours.

Steps #2 through #7 include additional strategies to help people reach their goals
for positive change. She closed with the observation that growth typically occurs in
a "three steps forward and one back" pattern, so it is critical to stick with a
longer-term focus.
