Acupuncture Schools Gain Popularity in the West
April 2, 2006. An ancient Chinese healing technique is gaining increased popularity in western culture. Acupuncture, a system used in China for over 3,000 years, has become a staple of Western healthcare as well, with acupuncture schools training professionals in this ancient art that that is safe, effective and a viable alternative to many traditional forms of pain relief. The history of acupuncture is fascinating. Most people believe that it began to be practiced during the Han Dynasty, but there are some historians who believe it is even older than the commonly accepted 3,000 years, pointing to 5,000 year old bodies found with marks on the pressure points used in acupuncture.
