New author Timothy Balmford has written a fantasy novel to rival Harry Potter and J R. R. Tolkien called, "Book's Chronicles - Volume One".
Using books he read as a child and a world he created for the fantasy, role-playing game, Dungeons and Dragons, for inspiration, Tim has crafted a mythical tale to entertain children and adults alike. Tim says, "If you enjoyed reading The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, then this will be right up your street. This book is aimed at children and the child inside us all."
The synopsis on the back of the book reads, "Matt, Lord of Mort Lake and his battle-weary horse, Squire, escape a vicious skirmish to find themselves in a time bubble inhabited by a great wizard, who trains Matt in the ways of magic. Whilst mastering his new skills, Matt meets a talking magic book, a beautiful female bodyguard, an enormous dragon and a platoon of stone warriors."
Tim was lucky enough to enlist the skills of professional artist Janet McQueen Duncan to create the illustration that appears on the front cover. Janet is best known for her watercolours of the river Thames and the Henley Royal Regatta.
