Press Release Body = Children Need to be Computer Literate!

The following remarks are based on a very informative and perceptive article by
Bowman Alden, who is the Executive Director of the Computer Learning Foundation. She
believes that for a child, being able to use a computer efficiently, is as necessary
as the ability to read. Technology is clearly an essential tool for the
future.http://www.second-income-for-goldenoldies.com/CDs.html

Computer Learning has the advantage that it can be adapted to individual pupils
learning styles and allows them to work independently at their own speed. Drills and
comprehension can be made interesting and exciting. Use of a personal computer can
help to boost a child\'s feelings of self-worth and self-confidence.

Research has established that children who experience periods of working on a
computer show greater learning improvement and have a longer attention span than
children who have not had computer learning time. A great advantage of computers is
that they allow study twenty-four hours a day. A computer unlike a human being will
never lose its temper with a child. It gives instant feedback and allows the child
to go on trying until they get the answer right. Of course computers don\'t take away
the need to learn multiplication tables but they make the memorizing process much
more interesting. Computers can also enable children to be in close contact with
other children in completely different parts of the world.

PC Manufacturers and Software Developers are doing their best to develop
state-of-the-art products that will help children learn and most importantly enjoy
learning.

There exists a series of CDs to help your children to use a computer safely and
responsibly. Disc 1 teaches children the basics of operating a computer. The second
disc deals with all aspects of using the internet safely. Disc 3 guides children in
word processing. Disc 4 covers maintenance and virus protection. The last CD is a
multimedia disc which deals with music, games, movies, and how to print pictures.
