Delphi Academy of Boston hosts first ever Geography Fair!

Released on = April 6, 2006, 10:50 am

Press Release Author = Delphi Academy of Boston

Industry = Education

Press Release Summary = Students from Delphi Boston represented ten regions during a
day long Geography Fair.

Press Release Body = On March 3rd Delphi Academy of Boston held its first ever
Geography Fair. Each class presented a different region from all over the world.

Each class spent the month of February researching its chosen region and finding out
about its culture, weather, geography, language, food, etc. Ten regions in all were
studied: Puerto Rico, Albania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Italy, Japan, Lithuania,
Greece, and India. The class studying Japan even had a visit from a representative
of the Japanese consulate, who showed them some examples of Japanese writing and
origami.

On the day of the Geography Fair, Delphi Boston was turned into a cosmopolitan arena
where the students could share what they had learned with the other students and
their parents. Each classroom represented the region the students from that class
had been studying and presented what they had learned. Several classes dressed in
traditional garb, some made traditional food and treats for the visitors, a couple
treated their guests to dances, and many had various other visual presentations
displaying information about their region.

The students all participated and had a great time!

Here are some quotes from the students about the Geography Fair and what they learned:

\"I learned from Saudi Arabia that camels are really good because people in
Saudi Arabia can ride them and rest under them.\" -- MM, age 5.

\"I learned about the Trojan War and about Japan. Also I loved the food in
Greece!\" -- JB, age 11.

\"What I learned at the Geography fair: Russia does great dances!\" -- TB, age 6.
