Press Release Body = Culver City, CA (April 13, 2006) - The inspirational hub of Culver City is a 50 block expression of all the artistic mediums; music (The Jazz Bakery), art (Lab 101 Gallery), fashion (Smashbox Studios), theatre (Kirk Douglas Theatre) and film (Sony Studios). On May 20th a composite of these artistic elements will merge as Original Trends - an art gallery style shopping experience featuring 60 original designers of clothing, accessories and art. Original Trends will be set against a rainbow backdrop of Ron Reihel paintings inside Culver City's newest cultural addition -- The Museum of Design Art & Architecture (MODAA, an architectural design firm and artist loft live/work space) from 9:30am-3:30pm. Original Trends will feature light jazz/ bossa nova music, and a complimentary coffee and juice bar for general guests, VIP guests will receive vegetarian catering by Real Food Daily, free valet parking, VIP lounge access, and gift bags worth $150 -- while supplies last.
"Original Trends needed a home where creativity is prevalent and diversity is celebrated," says Michelle Tung, independent filmmaker and creator of Original Trends. "Culver City offers the perfect backdrop for this production. Those that crave uniqueness in their purchases will find Original Trends to be a pure artistic endeavor - the "anti-mall" of shopping experiences."
Original Trends opens from 9:30am to 3:30pm at MODAA 8609 Washington Blvd. on Saturday, May 20th. Ticket prices are: $30 for VIP, $3 with RSVP and $5 at the door. Original Trends was created by Michelle Tung, a jewelry designer (Pisces) and film maker (owner of Serenity Productions). After receiving her degree from CSU Northridge, Tung worked as an art director and production designer for several independent films and saw an opportunity to combine her passion for design with her passion for film by developing Original Trends into a multi-artistic showcase.
