Assay Development and High-Throughput Screening Conference to be held in San Francisco

Conference aims to present the latest technical advances in cell-based and
biochemical assays and data management along with examples of the HTS applications
in drug discovery and development.


Press Release Body = MONROVIA, CA - HTS remains one of the most challenging and
resource-intensive steps in the drug discovery process, with the end result
depending on proper balance of assays, experimental design, and data management.
The Assay Development & High-Throughput Screening Conference aims to present the
latest technical advances in cell-based and biochemical assays and data management
along with examples of the HTS applications in drug discovery and development.

Sessions on Cell-Based and High-Content Screening assays will reflect emergence of
cell-based assays as a major drug discovery platform that eliminates bottlenecks
associated with traditional screening.

Dr. John Wang, Associate Director, Drug Discovery for the Novartis Institute for
Biomedical Research will kick off the conference with a look at "How New
Technologies Reshaped Modern Drug Discovery: A Fascinating Journey of 20 Years".
Directly following Dr. Wang's featured presentation, Dr. John Morin, Director of HTS
for Wyeth Research will discuss "Cell Based Screening Applications in the Real
World".

Additional speakers from Amgen, Amphora Corporation, Anadys Pharmaceuticals,
Cyprotex, Eli Lilly, Euroscreen, Genentech, GE, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck & Co.,
Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, Serono, Wyeth and Xantos will present on new technical
developments, data collection and management, cell based assays, in vitro assays,
and HTS applications in drug discovery.

The event will take place June 22-23, 2006 at the Marine's Memorial Club & Hotel in
