Christians vs Lions XXI - Boxing and Martial Arts Spectacular

Released on = June 25, 2006, 11:03 pm

Press Release Author = Fighting Fathers Ministries

Industry = Entertainment

Press Release Summary = Sydney\'s \'Fighting\' Father Dave Smith will be hosting
another of his famous Christians v Lions Fight Nights at Petersham R.S.L. -
featuring a long line of debut fighters, as well as a bout for the Sydney
Metropolitan Title - and Fatherdave himself fighting!

Press Release Body = On Saturday July 1st Sydney's 'Fighting' Father Dave Smith will
be hosting another of his famous Christians v Lions Fight Nights at Petersham R.S.L.

The evening will feature a full card of bouts, as several of Father Dave's young
fighters make their debut, and one of Holy Trinity's most experienced fighters, Greg
'the Greganought' Stanton, will fight for the Sydney Metropolitan Title.

Father Dave himself will also be fighting - this time taking on a Martial Arts
expert from the Blue Mountains region - Geoff Scully, dubbed, 'The Mountain Man'.

Father Dave says, "I don't know a lot about Mr Scully, but I hear that he's been
mouthing off to radio stations and to anybody who cares to listen, telling them that
he's going to make a meal of me! Personally, it's not my style to 'talk up' a fight,
but I can say in all honesty that I'm not losing any sleep over the Mountain Man."

As usual all proceeds will go to the Holy Trinity Youth Fitness Centre, which
provides resources for the kids in this area. With programs including boxing,
wrestling and martial arts, as well as an internet café, Trinity center draws at
least 50 kids every day into a safe environment where they have access to counseling
and pastoral care.

"Mostly we provide a safe place for young people to hang out - a safe harbor from
the violence and drugs that they're exposed to on the streets," says Father Dave.

Father Dave is confident that the night will help raise the funds needed to keep the
Youth Centre financial, and be entertaining too. Like all previous fight nights, it
is intended as a family event.

Don't miss out! Be at Petersham RSL on Saturday 16th July at 7p.m
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students - available at the door.
