Press Release Body = Fabric lovers, antiques collectors, and fans of Scalamandre silks worldwide have a second on line auction to peruse beginning at 10 A.M. EDT on Saturday, June 24. This auction is the latest Scalamandre event presented by LLD Specialty Sales of Portsmouth, RI. Prior on site sales and the first Scalamandre Internet auction generated international publicity and a new level of customer interest for a company considered to be an American manufacturing icon.
Scalamandre's Artifact Auction II offers more than 100 lots of carefully selected weaving collectibles, fine woven and printed goods in silk, linen, cotton, and blends, an intriguing group of Elitis sample books, many original silk screens from the Scalamandre wall paper and handprint department, hundreds of yards of exquisite wallpaper borders, original Jacquard punch cards, and framed samples of some of Scalamandre's best custom designed fabrics.
Auction bidders can compete for as few as 4 or 5 yards or as many as 15 or 20 yards of selected fabrics, some of which have rarified or historical provenance. There are two lots of large remnant pieces made for the World Financial Center that was destroyed on 9/11. Also offered is a custom Tuscan red brocatelle in silk and linen which was a favorite of Clem Conger, the former White House curator during several administrations.
Fabric collectors and sewing enthusiasts will be especially interested in the collection of sample books from Elitis, a French company that continues to produce some of the finest and most sophisticated fabrics in the world. For many years Scalamandre was the exclusive U.S. distributor for Elitis and the sample books in this auction include exotic wallpapers as well.

Scalamandre's Artifact Auction II will be open for bidding for one week and will close on Saturday, July 1, beginning at 10 A.M. EDT.
Each lot in an AntiquesYes on-line auction closes at one minute intervals. All bidders are anonymous, and there is an extended bidding feature to insure that no one is shut out at the end of the regular bidding time.
