A Prostate Center of Excellence from ROR will ensure that the urologists can manage the entire continuum of care for their patients while offering them state of the art treatment modalities such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).
IMRT is an advanced form of external beam radiation therapy that specifically targets the prostate gland while sparing other nearby critical organs from the potentially harmful effects of radiation. With IMRT, a physician can deliver an increased dose of radiation to the prostate while minimizing the dose to the adjacent rectum and bladder.
