By Manjari Juneja

In a move to control the rising grey market for memory modules, Kingston Technology

imports and grey markets account for 50-60 percent of the total memory business.

The vendor is planning to tackle parallel imports by introducing India specific
packaging and warranty for its products through its authorized channel and also
plans to shortly introduce Kingston service centers, which will have the capability
to check for non-genuine Kingston parts.

The company has already started shipping India specific packaging and is looking
forward to introduce warranty cards through its authorized channel.

Speaking to it VAR news, Country Manager, India, Kingston Technology, Rajesh
Panicker said, \"Kingston has already started shipping India specific packaging, we
are looking at introducing warranty cards through our authorized channel, which will
be needed to claim warranty and other services. At the moment, our priority is to
provide warranty to all our genuine products.\"

Kingston is also planning to open independent service centers. Giving details on it,
Panicker said, \"There is an elaborate plan from Kingston in terms of service for the
Indian channel who will buy from our authorized partners. We plan to open service
centers throughout the country in a couple of months. We plan to open our service
centers in a phased manner, looking at our sales pattern, customer base and
proximity to city
clusters.\"

Each of these service centers will be equipped to distinguish non- genuine Kingston
parts, apart from this there will be channel trainings and awareness campaigns to
