The Art Institutes Announces 2007 Passion for Fashion Competition
For High School Seniors

(PITTSBURGH, JULY 22, 2006) -- Could you be the next Stella McCartney or Zac Posen?
If you're a high school senior who loves design and would like to pursue a career in
fashion design or fashion marketing, The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion
competition is for you.

The Passion for Fashion competition was created to recognize and reward young design
talent at the high school level and encourage an education in the fashion industry.

At stake is a full scholarship worth up to $70,000 to study fashion design or
fashion marketing, merchandising or retail management at one of 22 Art Institute
locations in the U.S. or Canada that offer fashion programs.

In addition to a full tuition scholarship for both the fashion design and fashion
marketing & merchandising and retail management categories, each grand prize winning
student receives an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City during Fashion Week.
During their time in New York, the winning students will spend a day at Seventeen
magazine and attend fashion shows. Both the students and their winning entry will be
profiled in an issue of Seventeen magazine.

In this year's Passion for Fashion competition students will be asked for to create
an "evening wear" design for the fashion design category or a fashion marketing,
merchandising or retail management plan for the corresponding category.
Entries must be submitted to a participating Art Institutes location by November 20,
2006. A local competition will be held at Art Institutes across North America in
November 2006, the local winners entries from each participating location will
proceed to the national competition. In the national competition, a panel of fashion
professionals will judge student submissions and national winners will be determined
by January 17, 2007.
To enter the competition you must be high school senior scheduled to graduate in
2007, and you must fulfill all general admission and competition guidelines. Your
entry should include a completed entry/release form, and your high school transcript
showing a minimum 2.0 GPA.

According to Bruce Dempsey, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs for The Art
Institutes, fashion for many teens is more than just a trip to the mall. "Today's
teenager has a much more refined sense of fashion. They are very aware of how to
put together a look, the kinds of styles they like, and how to express themselves
through fashion," he says.
