"Hips Don't Lie" and neither do the results of the "Most Influential Latino 2006"
poll organized by VivirLatino.com (VL). In the poll the Colombian singer Shakira,
and the Puerto Rican actress, singer, and entrepreneur Jennifer López were chosen by
VL readers as the most influential Latinas in the U.S., beating out 18 other well
known musicians, entrepreneurs, writers, journalists and politicians.

The creators of Vivirlatino.com created a list of 20 Latino nominees who are well
known for their political influence, economic power, or media relevancy in the
United States, but it was VivirLatino readers who decided via online vote who were
the most influential Latinos of 2006.

Shakira won with 35% of the vote followed by Jennifer López with 31% of the vote,
leaving way behind fellow musical artists like Daddy Yankee who received 4% of the
vote and Juanes who garnered 2.3%.

Other nominees included the Mexican actress Salma Hayek; the recovering Cuban
president Fidel Castro; the Mexican entrepreneur Carlos Slim; blogger Markos
Moulitsas Zúńiga, better known as "Daily Kos"; journalist Jorge Ramos; Attorney
General Alberto Gonzales, and Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

The results of the poll can be found on the website

communities in the United Status, Latinos.
