Idiotic footballers inspire a blog of buffoonery

Released on = September 26, 2006, 5:24 am

Press Release Author = David Walker

Industry = Entertainment

Press Release Summary = Footballers behaving badly . . . now they've got their own
website.

Press Release Body = FOOTBALLERS behaving badly . . . now they've got their own
website.

Inclusion in www.footballersareidiots.co.uk is nothing for them to take pride in
though, for it's an anthology of absurd antics, a compendium of cringe, a parade of
petulant prima donnas.

Amidst bungs, teenage tantrums and Ashley Cole's autobiography, recent days have
seen tales of:

*A Belgian striker who missed a match due to a family bereavement - that of his dog;

*A South American 'hardman' who still lives with his mummy;

*A Chelsea multi-millionaire on £130,000 a week complaining about London house prices;

*And a Brazilian referee awarding a goal scored by a ball boy.

So, what inspired this blog of buffoonery?

Creator David Walker explained: "I want it to become the definite log of all that is
wrong with the modern footballer.

"Its aim is to 'name and shame' those who behave, on or off the pitch, in a manner
perceived as idiotic."

But the 26-year-old Cardiff City season ticket holder does have sympathy with the
overpaid sportsmen who swim in the goldfish bowl.

"No matter how much they earn, they are still human and prone to being just as bad
as any other young men. The only difference is their downfalls are played out under
the full spotlight of the media."

So which footballer does the creator of www.footballersareidiots.co.uk most admire?

Perhaps a paragon of sporting perfection, flawlessness and virtue who would never
appear on the website.

"Erm," says David. "Wayne Rooney."
