Press Release Body = Latin America automotive industry review - Management briefing

Latin America has staged something of a comeback as an emerging market that was
previously overshadowed by the explosive growth of China, and the enlargement of the
European Union into Central Europe. Looking at the Mercosur region, particularly
Argentina, this briefing highlights the performance, development and recovery of
each country\'s auto industry, along with strategies of key automakers.

Latin America is in many ways the forgotten emerging market. Strongly tipped for
major growth in the early 1990s, it attracted large investments from vehicle
manufacturers - Brazil alone received investment of more than US$20bn from major
automakers during the period, as domestic sales grew to more than 1.5m units a year
and forecasters predicted that figure would double within a decade.

But this growth proved unsustainable, as Latin America was eclipsed by the explosive
growth of China, the enlargement of the European Union into Central Europe as the
prime focus for automakers\' recent investments in emerging markets, and an Asian
financial crisis of 1996 that soon spread to South America.

The region is now recovering. Use this briefing to find out how, and discover the
answers to the following questions:

What is the state of exports, taking into consideration the strength of the Real
against the Dollar?
How has the Argentine auto industry recovered from a crisis in 2002?
How many units were produced in the Mercosur region in 2005?
How are Flex-Fuel cars performing in the Brazilian market?
Which is the most popular sector in the Brazilian market?
What are the goals of Mercosur in terms of the auto industry?
What are the strategies employed by Fiat, VW and other major automakers in the
emerging Latin American markets?
