September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, but every month is cancer awareness
month for the HUGS and HOPE Foundation -- a charity that offers year-round smiles to
pediatric cancer victims and their families.
The group is committed to giving suffering kids a little more hope and joy. Over
3,000 volunteer hug givers and hope builders provide toys, cards, books, balloons
and birthday party supplies for hospitalized and homebound children who are battling
for life.

Volunteers sends out thousands of pieces of \"happy mail\" each month. The group is
always seeking more hug-givers and hope-builders and encourages anyone who cares
about children to join their ranks at www.hugsandhope.org All it takes is a caring
heart and the price of a postage stamp! One of the smiles you create just might be
your own.

Hugs and Hope founder, Marsha Jordan, says it\'s easy to be a messenger of hope for a
sick child. All it takes is a desire to help. \"Whatever your ability,\" says Jordan,
\"you can use it to benefit suffering children and their families. Whether it\'s
crocheting blankets, sending encouraging notes to discouraged parents, or dropping a
Barney video in the mail to a child undergoing chemotherapy . . . it all helps. And
it truly makes a difference in the lives of these children.\"
