London (chance4finance) September 29, 2006: Parents are opting for personal loans to
meet their children's university expenses. A research from Sainsbury\'s Bank
estimated that around £53.8 million worth of personal loans could be taken out this
year to meet the cost of university.

The statistics also show that parents who are keen to help cover their children's
university costs will take out the majority of personal loans.

The bank also cautioned the borrowers looking out for personal loans to shop around
for the best deal. But the fact is that just four out of ten people taking out a
personal loan only receive one quote. This shows that borrowers are lacking in
efforts to get the best deal.

Steven Baillie, Sainsbury\'s Bank loans manager said that as students go back to
university, many would face a significant increase in their living expenses. Baillie
said that apart from some students taking on paid employment to help cover this
cost, the parents are also taking out personal loans to help their children cover
the cost of university.
