"I first came up with the idea for the trilogy one night while watching an old rerun of the movie, The Secret Lives of Walter Mitty," Cloutier said. "I had of course read the story when in school, and the movie brought back to me how vividly I related to Walter Mitty when I was a teenager, since I tended to daydream quite often while in class. I thought it would be interesting to create a Mitty-like character, but rather than have him retreat into his mind to avoid a nagging wife like Mitty did, my character, Edward Fox, does so to escape the memories of a terrible episode that occurred to him when he was a child."
