New Information Resource For Home Schooling

Released on = October 6, 2006, 11:14 am

Press Release Author = Jed & Gina Reay

Industry = Education

Press Release Summary = If you have thought about home schooling or are already home
schooling your children then you probably struggle with the \"socialization\" issue.
For many that are thinking about home schooling this can be a big factor in actually
making the decision to home school.

Press Release Body = The argument and fear is since home schooled children are not
with their peers on a daily basis in a large classroom then they might not be as
social adept.

The issue essentially comes from the belief that your child\'s ability to interact
with others his or her age will be greatly hampered by home schooling. This could
potentially lead to anti social behavior that will affect your child's success in
life and the community at large.

However, this is not entirely true. Many people use the term socialization in a very
lose way and often the true definition of the word socialization is not looked at.
This lead many people to draw incorrect conclusions, these are often false or at
least not based on fact.

Many home schooling families set up networks just for this \"socialization\" issue.
They spend time each day going out and spending time with other home schooled
children. They get to interact with others that way. Those children also tend to
have other family members that are not home schooled and spend time socially with
them.

It is important for people who decide to home school to make a very conscious effort
to keep their children in social settings that will benefit their communication
skills in the future. I have also seen that most home schoolers succeed in this
area.

While home schoolers have to focus on different behaviours and situations than
families that don\'t have their children home schooled, they tend to have a great
education and succeed in higher education at a high rate.

Home schooling is a choice that one has to make. If you as a parent have the time
and patience to home school and feel it will benefit your child more than a public
or private school then you get to make that choice.
