Assistance for Widows(ers) and Resource Education announces that Walmart
Neighborhood Store, Pantego, TX has given a grant to combat the isolation of seniors
in Tarrant County.

This grant will assist in funding our Senior Isolation Initiative. Dedicated staff
and volunteers from our community conduct monthly visits to assess personal
progress, offering encouragement and resources to make their transition as smooth as
possible.

Monthly visits indicate isolation, malnutrition and financial education as our
greatest challenge. A growing body of research suggests that physical and social
isolation contributes to health problems, depression, substance abuse and suicide
among older adults. TCaware incorporates the following services into an isolation
initiative:

.Outreach and screening of isolated older adults.
.Development of individual re-engagement plans.
.Transportation assistance-volunteer and public.
.Shopping assistance.
.Home repair and modification.
.Yard work/chore services.
.Telephone reassurance and 24-hour crisis line.
.Friendly visiting.
.Food assistance.
.Linkage with other resources.
