Jobseekers Turning Lax With Their Application Because of Online Job Search

Released on = December 6, 2006, 4:17 am

Press Release Author = Neoli Marcos

Industry = Internet & Online

Press Release Summary = With the convenience of online job search, it has been a
growing trend for many Australian job applicants nowadays to be more lax and
complacent with their job application.

Press Release Body = 6 December 2006---

Not too many job applicants utilise the Internet for their job searching these days.

With the convenience of online job search, it has been a growing trend for many
Australian job applicants nowadays to be more lax and complacent with their job
application. They think that signing up at any of the free online job classifieds
and posting resume are all there is to a successful job application.

And they, of course, are right, but only up to a point. Sites like
careerone.com.au, jobsearch.com.au, and OzFreeOnline may be free job classifieds
sites which employers turn to for their job vacancies and workforce needs. But
jobseekers shouldn\'t depend solely on their resume simply posted online and wait for
whoever finds them. They too must be on the lookout for promising companies.
Jobseeking is reciprocal after all, and should be more focused and targeted; not
just a net thrown blindly in the water, so to speak. This is what separates the
ordinary jobseeker from the successful jobseeker.

A simple research on the jobseeker\'s part is all it takes. Visiting the prospective
employer\'s website, and browsing through the \"About Us,\" \"Employment,\" \"Careers,\"
\"Our People,\" and \"Our Services\" sections will give jobseekers more insight into the
company, as well as prepare them for the eventual interview. And in the job market,
a cardinal rule is to always be prepared. It\'s all there in the Net, the resources
one needs for a successful job application; unfortunately not too many jobseekers
explore.

Employers are more impressed to see candidates who are engaged actively in the Net.
Good online job search should be followed up with ample research then. It makes for
better bargaining power during the job offer and salary negotiations. And
inevitably, better chances in landing a promising career.
