A Gala Celebration - `The Life and Legacy of Dr E B Palmer and Mrs Juanita Palmer

Press Release Body = Raleigh, North Carolina (January 15, 2007) The African
American Cultural Complex (AACC) Coordinating Advisory Committee will host a Gala
Celebration of "The Life and Legacy of Dr. E. B. Palmer and Mrs. Juanita Palmer" at
4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the North Raleigh Hilton located at 3415
Wake Forest Road in Raleigh, North Carolina. Dr. Prezell Robinson (Board Chair), Dr.
Kimberly Moore (NC Mutual Public Relations Director) and Mr. Lew Myers (Director
Business Development, The Freelon Group) are organizing the occasion.

The gala will celebrate 103 years devoted to teaching, exhibiting the works and
history of African Americans and Dr. and Mrs. Palmer's longstanding dedication to
serving their community.

Dr. Palmer became internationally renowned as a Civil Rights Educational Leader,
receiving major awards from several organizations including the United
Nations-Education Committee; "100 Most Influential Blacks in America" by Ebony
Magazine; Lifetime Achievement Award in Education-North Carolina Association of
Educators and the National Education Association; Lifetime Achievement Award in the
Museum Field-National Association of African American Museums; and Presented Keys to
the cities of Kinston, NC, Houston, TX and Newark, NJ. Dr. Palmer served as
Director of the Hammocks Beach Corporation (HBC) for 43 years. HBC donated a
portion of their land to the State of North Carolina which is now the (Bear Island)
Hammocks Beach State Park in Swansboro, NC.

Mrs. Palmer, born on a plantation in South Carolina, became the first African
American Classroom Teacher to desegregate the Chapel Hill School System. Both
Juanita and E.B. Palmer have received North Carolina's Order of the Long Leaf Pine
for Outstanding Contributions in Education. With her husband, E.B., Juanita was
Co-Founder of the African American Cultural Complex Museum (AACC).

The public is graciously invited to join in the celebration of this dynamic couple
committed to creating a life and legacy we can all be proud of and emulate.

Tickets for this event are $40.00 and can be purchased by contacting Ms. Ruth
Palmer, Financial Director at 919-250-9336. All proceeds will go towards the AACC
Program.
