Press Release Summary = BANDS HOLD FUNDRAISER FOR HANDICAP VAN
Drunken man hit by car is now Paraplegic and wants to use his story to keep kids off
drugs and alcohol.

Press Release Body = (Attleboro, Rhode Island, USA) Paul Pickering of Attleboro did
what he thought was the responsible thing after drinking heavily 21 years ago, he
walked home instead of driving. But a motorist struck the drunken pedestrian and
instantly turned him into a paraplegic.

Today at age 51, Paul breathes through a straw and is still bound to a wheelchair.
Still very lucid and vocal his goal is to help others learn from his mistakes. He
set out to join D.A.R.E. where he hoped to visit schools and motivate kids to stay
off drugs and alcohol. But his handicap van was old and unreliable so he had to put
those dreams and wishes aside.

Jimmy \"Killer\" Kane, the noted musician and harmonica player for the Blue FO\'S heard
about Paul's goals and with other musicians has been raising the money for
Pickering's van so he can help others through D.A.R.E.

The next event will be Saturday, March 24th from 5pm to 9pm at the \"The Oasis\"
formerly known as Lantern Lodge, 50 Pleasant Street, Norton off Rte. 123 by the
Attleboro line 508-223-3398. There is a $10 cover charge, and Kane has promised a
memorable show.

Playing at "The Oasis" will be the bands "Itchy Fish" and the "Blue FO\'s" whose
members hail from Attleboro, North Attleboro and Cumberland, Rhode Island.

Donations towards the van can be sent to \"Paul Pickering Van Fund\" c/o Sovereign
Bank, 16 Park St, Attleboro, MA 02703.

Performing for Itchy Fish will be Dave Raposa, Bob Edwards, Ziggy, Bob Hill & Sean
Pedini. Performing for the Blue FO\'S will be James "Killer" Kane, Tim Lindsey,
Charlie Huntington, Dave McCarthy and Randy Fyfe.
