Scouts from 3 States to Attend Order of the Arrow BSA National Honor Society Conference

Released on = March 6, 2007, 1:34 pm

Press Release Author = David M. Bresnahan

Industry = Small Business

Press Release Summary = Hundreds of Boy Scouts who are members of the Order of the
Arrow from three states will gather at the Intermountain Power Plant in Delta, Utah
for their annual convention in April.

Press Release Body = Delta, Utah - Hundreds of teenage boys who are members of the
Order of the Arrow from three states will come to the Intermountain Power Facility
Man Camp, located adjacent to the Intermountain Power Generating Station north of
Delta for their annual convention April 27 - 29.

Plans for the event were announced by the Boy Scouts of America Order of the Arrow
Section W5D. Participation in the event is open to all boys and adult leaders who
are members of the Order of the Arrow. The group maintains a web site with
information about the event at http://www.w5d.org

The Order of the Arrow is the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America. A
smaller percentage of boys receive this honor than attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
Members are taught leadership skills and participate in large service projects that
benefit Boy Scout camps and local communities.

Plans for the event are still underway, but include instruction, spiritual uplift,
and "plenty of fun," according to Sam Fife, a Boy Scout from Blackfoot, Idaho who is
the W5D Section Chief. He has been involved in organizing and planning this event
with his staff of other young men for almost a full year.

Events and activities will take place from Friday through Sunday. There will be
instruction in various popular scouting activities, leadership training, and other
programs to help the youth and adult leaders improve their skills. There are over 85
classes for both youth and adults.

Participants will camp on the grounds of the Intermountain Power Facility Man Camp,
located adjacent to the Intermountain Power Generating Station north of Delta.

Other events include games, competitions, and a show. Some of the most popular
activities include a climbing wall, scuba diving, a super soaker battle on the
football field, and a native American pow wow, or dance competition. Order of the
Arrow members learn from the teachings and traditions of native Americans.

Church services for many denominations will be provided on Sunday, followed by
closing ceremonies.

Other activities include movies, chess tournaments, and other games. The Scouts will
camp in tents outside on the grounds of the power plant, and all meals are provided
in the company cafeteria.

The Boy Scouts of America sponsor Order of the Arrow lodges in each council
throughout the United States. The country is broken up into Sections of several
lodges. Section W5D is made up of OA members from the Great Salt Lake Council (Salt
Lake area), Utah National Parks Council (southern Utah), Trapper Trails Council
(northern Utah and part of Wyoming), and Grand Teton Council (southern Idaho).
