Cash strapped homeowners considering co-buying, says National Homebuyers

Released on = June 15, 2007, 3:40 am

Press Release Author = Charlotte Burrows

Industry = Real Estate

Press Release Summary = Mortgage repayment rates are now so high that many buyers
are considering co-buying schemes as a way to get onto the property ladder, it has
been advised.

Press Release Body = The co-founder of the Co-buyWithMe website has said that demand
was especially strong in the UK\'s major cities, in part due to the higher house
prices found in urban areas.

Stephan Michaels has said that the practice was continuing to grow in popularity,
and advised that living with a relative stranger may in fact be more sensible than
with a partner in case of relationship break-ups.

\"Some people actually consider it safer to be buying with a stranger as opposed to a
partner, or someone else, where you enter into the agreement but you don\'t take all
the precautions of getting everything in writing,\" he suggested.

But homeowners considering their options may opt for selling their home rather than
committing to an agreement with another potential buyer.

National Homebuyers is the UK\'s leading fast purchase property firm and it
recommends assessing all the alternatives before opting for a last ditch
\'co-habiting\' agreement. Company director Chris Newman says: \"Owning a house has
never cost so much. You should identify other options before accepting strangers
into your biggest asset.

\"National Homebuyers deal with thousands of people who, for whatever reason, need to
release equity in their property, but lack the desire to move out of their home.

\"Our Sell and Rent Back solution allows people to release the equity in their home
but remain living their with cash in their pockets, even after paying off debts.
Selling part of your house will open you up to all manner of disputes and
disagreements.\"
