Consignment Shop Chic

Released on = June 11, 2007, 11:10 am

Press Release Author = Bruce W. Coffman/Bettye\'s Closet

Industry = Apparel & Fashion

Press Release Summary = feature article about the rise in popularity of consignment
shopping

Press Release Body = Savvy shoppers are noting the trend toward \"consignment shop
chic.\" Gone are the days of dirty, poorly organized second-hand shops. Taking their
place are \"boutique\" style shops featuring high quality, gently-used name brand
clothing and accessories such as shoes and purses.

Consignment shops are cleaning up their act, and their stores these days, featuring
more department-store type displays and becoming more selective about the types and
quality of items they carry. Shoppers have taken note of this and are showing
increasing interest in such shops.

Environmentally-conscious shoppers like the idea that they can keep items out of
land-fills by buying gently-used items that still have a lot of life left in them.

Bargain hunters enjoy being able to purchase famous designer brands at a fraction of
the cost of new. In many cases, the gently-used versions are indistinguishable from
their brand new counterparts.

Many consignment shops are even taking this trend a step further and adding new
items to their mix. Bettye\'s Closet Resale Boutique in Morganfield, Kentucky
regularly features new items alongside their consigned finds. Shoppers are likely to
find a brand new purse alongside a vintage Coach bag.

\"People seem to really like mixing and matching the new and the gently-used pieces,\"
says Bettye\'s Closet Resale Boutique owner Bruce W. Coffman. \"We have had a lot of
interest in the new items, but customers often pick up a few consigned pieces to go
along with them. They may choose a new purse and put it with a consigned blouse or
pair of jeans.\"

Bettye\'s Closet features new and used clothing as well as furniture, home decor and
gifts. They are located at 117 and 118 N. Court Street in downtown Morganfield,
Kentucky.
