Homeowners `staying put` says National Homebuyers

Released on = June 11, 2007, 6:53 am

Press Release Author = Charlotte Burrows

Industry = Real Estate

Press Release Summary = Homeowners could find selling their home more difficult in
the coming months as potential buyers opt to stay put, market observers have
predicted.

Press Release Body = According to Moneyextra, the housing market has seen price
increases of just 3.4 per cent in the last 12 months, with homeowners discouraged
from moving by the recent interest rate rises and proposed changes to planning laws.

Moneyextra\'s Robin Amlot said that the property market was likely to be subdued as
homeowners look to invest in their homes rather than move - posing a problem for
those looking to sell.

\"While it still appears unlikely that house prices will actually fall back, turnover
in the market will fall,\" he said.

\"More people will choose to stay put - a trend likely to be reinforced by the
proposed relaxation of planning regulations, making it easier to expand and improve
existing homes.

\"That means the market for remortgaging will be where most of the action is going to
be in the next 12 months as homeowners look to add value and space to their existing
properties.\"

The lack of buyers means that the time a property will spend on the market will also
increase, says the UK\'s leading homebuying firm. National Homebuyers says this will
seriously affect those who need to sell their property quickly.

Director, Julian King says: \"National Homebuyers purchases properties every year for
vendors who need to sell quickly, because of financial problems, ill health,
divorce, relocation or other issues facing the homeowner.

\"A slowdown in the market will have such an affect on the time spent of market for
homeowners, that they may need an alternative way of selling their property.
National Homebuyers are experts in arranging a fast property sale for vendors.\"
