China`s Vaccine Industry - Consolidation Time Ahead

Released on = July 17, 2007, 3:34 am

Press Release Author = Shushmul Maheshwari

Industry = Healthcare

Press Release Summary = China’s vaccine market is expected to witness an
upturn when it will become a consolidated industry from a fragmented one, thanks to
M&As projected for coming three to five years.

Press Release Body = The vaccine industry of China, which is largely considered as a
fragmented industry, is expected to see big deals being signed and sealed in the
coming three to five years, reported a business insider during 2007 International
Conference for Bio-economy in Tianjin on June 27, 2007, as published by Interfax
China on June 28, 2007.

Currently, there are over 30 vaccine manufacturers in China and as Chen Dagao,
General Manager, Jinagsu Yanshen Biological Technology Stock Co. Ltd, has augured,
the total count will surpass 40 by 2010 due to the rapid growth of vaccine market in
China.

The major forces that will push the vaccine sales high in the country are large
investments by government in public immunization programs, foray of more
international vaccine manufacturers, and better living standards. Vaccine market in
China, presently, is anticipated to be at about RMB 2.8 Billion (over US$ 393.4
Million) and still has the potential to record phenomenal growth in future.

Chinese vaccine market is characterized by small enterprises, with only few products
in their portfolio. This comes as an important factor to facilitate a culture of
M&As in future. Moreover, now many vaccine makers are expanding their production.
This will lead to an oversupply of vaccines in coming 12 months-2 years, said Chen.
\"An oversupply in the vaccine market will result in mergers and acquisitions,\" said
Chen in a statement reported by Interfax China on June 28, 2007.

“Global Vaccine Market Outlook (2007-2010)”, a recent market report by
RNCOS, too positions China as the largest Asian vaccine market. The China National
Biotec Corporation is leading the local suppliers, and efforts are being put into
place to organize and improve management; private-owned firms are increasing
rapidly; international bigwigs have also made inroads into the China’s vaccine
market and have started to grab increasingly large shares of high-end vaccines.

The research report presents a prudent analysis of various parameters of the global
vaccine market, like past, current and future market trends, major vaccines and
their markets, categories of players operating in the vaccine market, and driving
forces, challenges and opportunities for the industry. The report also gives a
profile discussion of global key players operating in the industry.
