`King of the Winged Monkeys` Ready to Fly

Released on = August 20, 2007, 4:45 pm

Press Release Author = David Wagner/AmericanScreenplay.com

Industry = Entertainment

Press Release Summary = New Screenplay Marks 70th Anniversary of the Filming of \"The
Wizard of Oz\"

Press Release Body = Coinciding with 2008's 70th anniversary of the filming of the
American classic \"The Wizard of Oz,\" Ohio-based screenwriter David Wagner has
written a movie about the sinister flying apes of Oz, \"King of the Winged Monkeys.\"

"My script is NOT a sequel to \'The Wizard of Oz\'," says Wagner. "\'King of the
Winged Monkeys\' is an original screenplay that uses the flying monkeys from L. Frank
Baum's Oz books in a new story, about a Kansas boy who finds a mysterious relic that
compels the flying monkeys to obey commands."

Many people remember being frightened as children by the winged monkeys, so will the
new movie be too scary for kids? "My story is a little dark in places, but that's
what makes it fun, like a roller coaster ride. A roller coaster isn't fun unless
it's a little scary."

And will there be a sequel? "I hope this screenplay starts a successful franchise
of \'Winged Monkeys\' films," continues Wagner, "and I'd love to write a few more of
them myself."

For additional information on \"King of the Winged Monkeys,\" an original screenplay,
contact David Wagner, or visit AmericanScreenplay.com.

About David Wagner:

David Wagner is a screenwriter and a senior editor at a publishing company in
