House price inflation to halve, says National Homebuyers

Released on = August 31, 2007, 6:54 am

Press Release Author = Charlotte Burrows

Industry = Real Estate

Press Release Summary = The majority of home buyers and sellers expect house price
inflation to halve in the next 12 months.

Press Release Body = Research released by Propertyfinder shows that 83 per cent of
those questioned anticipate a significant slowdown in inflation.

In addition, a large majority of those asked said that rising interest rates are to
blame for the market slowing down.

\"Interest rates have had a cooling effect on price growth and the full impact is yet
to feed through into data,\" said Warren Bright from website Propertyfinder.

\"Changes in consumer attitudes are the first indicator of market conditions to come
so we should expect house price inflation to continue to slow.\"

Mr Bright went on to warn that the Bank of England could trigger a disaster in the
UK housing market if it chose to increase the base rate again.

\"The rises so far will continue to affect the market for several months and any
further hikes could be overkill,\" he added.

Mortgage broker Cobalt Capital has warned that another rate rise of 0.25 per cent is
likely in the coming months.

Julian King of National Homebuyers says that thousands of UK homeowners are already
seeking to sell their property quickly.

\"Thousands more are contacting National Homebuyers, fearing that the increase in
rate rises and the lack of buyers will mean their property remains on the market, as
prices begin to fall.

\"A quarter of our customers are stating \'debt\' or \'fear of debt\' as their reason for
wanting a quick sale for their UK property.\"

National Homebuyers is the UK\'s leading fast property purchase firm, guaranteeing to
make an offer on any property surveyed, assisting homeowners who require a quick
sale for whatever reason.
