If you are on the way to upgrade GP versions 7.5, 8.0, 9.0 to GP 10.0, then you
should read this press release. Microsoft Dynamics GP, or former name of this ERP
platform is Great Plains Software Dynamics, Dynamics C/S+, eEnterprise and if you
are looking back to earlier GPS ERP versions - Great Plains Accounting (however GPA
should not be considered the same as GP ERP application or successor, it is one of
earlier GPS DOS, MS Windows and Mac products)
1. You current version. Are you in MS SSQL Server or on older legacy db, such as
Pervasive SQL or Ctree/Faircom. You should know your current version, this should
be seen if you are in Great Plains workstation and go to help->About
2. Pervasive SQL and Ctree upgrade scenarios. You will have to do migration to
Microsoft Dynamics GP on MS SQL Server. This is reasonably simple issue if you use
core GP modules, however if you use Great Plains third party modules, such as
Intellisol POP, PA, for example - upgrade is more complex, as you have to walk away
from Intellisol to regular GP POP module. Technologically migration works as this -
it is GP Dexterity chink, which allows you to connect to Btrieve and SQL databases
at the same time and it moves transactions one-by-one to GP on SQL Server platform
3. Customizations upgrade. If you have Dexterity customizations, or
VBA/Modifier/Continuum modified logic, you should provide your GP support partner
with Dynamics.dic, or Dynamics.VBA (VBA/Modifier)
4. Licensing. In order to get GP 10.0 licenses, you should be current in Microsoft
Dynamics annual enhancement program. If you need help in being reenrolled into
enhancement program please email us or give us a call
