In-home Sauna Uses Far Infrared Radiant Heat for Better Health and Weight Loss

Released on: September 26, 2007, 11:48 am

Press Release Author: David M. B resnahan

Industry: Healthcare

Press Release Summary: Makers of the Health Mate in-home sauna say it uses far
infrared radiant heat for better health and weight loss. Tests comparing infrared
with steam and conventional heat saunas show many benefits to infrared.

Press Release Body: Buena Park , CA - Comparisons between far infrared saunas to
steam and conventional heat saunas have shown that the far infrared heat used in
Health Mate saunas offers better health and weight loss benefits.

"Conventional or steam saunas heat the air, and then that hot air heats the person's
body. An infrared Health Mate sauna heats the body directly. This allows deep heat
with a more pleasant temperature in the surrounding air, thus providing greater
health benefits and greater comfort," explained Tracy Lopez of PLH Products,
manufacturer of Health Mate saunas.

Infrared is the band of light that humans cannot see with the naked eye, but can
feel it in the form of heat. The sun produces most of its energy output in the
infrared segment of the spectrum. Infrared rays heat the human body without having
to heat the air in-between, through a process called conversion, according to Lopez.

Steam and other conventional heat saunas need high air temperatures to pull
impurities from the body, but far infrared saunas are more effective using lower and
more comfortable temperatures.

"Because infrared rays penetrate the body over 1 1/2 inches in the conversion
process, there is a deep-heating effect in the muscle tissues and internal organs
without giving too much burden to our heart. Our body reacts to the increased
heating through the natural cooling process of perspiring," said Lopez.

The body eliminates many forms of waste through perspiration, such as acid and
toxins, sodium, alcohol, nicotine, cholesterol and the potentially carcinogenic
heavy metals including zinc, lead, nickel, cadmium, and others. The skin also sheds
old skin cells, leaving it glowing and immaculately clean, with improved tone,
elasticity, texture and color, according to information on the company's web site at
http://www.HealthMateSauna.com

A person will sweat two to three times as much in a far infrared sauna as compared
to a conventional heat sauna, according to the site. In one sauna session a
moderately conditioned person can easily sweat the equivalent of running six to
eight miles. While this weight loss can be regained by re-hydration with water, the
calories expended can not, making this a valuable form of weight loss and weight
control.

The deep penetrating infrared heat also stimulates the heart to send more blood to
the cells of the body, which increases blood circulation, bringing relief to pain
and other symptoms.

In Japan , there is an \"infrared society\" composed of medical doctors and physical
therapists dedicated to further infrared research. Their findings support the health
benefits of infrared therapy as a method of healing.
